PlayStation Network 'Welcome Back' package is here Written by Ron on June 04, 2011 - 10:00AM
Sony shut down its PlayStation Network on April 20 due to a security breach that compromised the credit card information for nearly 77 million users and promised a free package to those who were affected. The wait is over as Sony finally introduced the "Welcome Back" package.
The package is only being given to those who were members before April 20th. All you need to do is head over to the PlayStation Store, and visit the "Welcome Back" tab. Users are being given the option to pick between five different game options on the PS3 and four options for the PSP. Users are being given one month free access to PlayStation Plus and several other freebies.
We're so excited to welcome you back to PlayStation Network. Today, we're excited to launch the Welcome Back program to thank you for your loyalty, and below, we've got what you need in order to get access to the included content. So, here's a list of questions about the program. If you don’t see your question below, mention it in the comments and we'll do our best to provide an answer. Thanks again for your patience and understanding as we restored the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services – your support has meant a lot to us and is greatly appreciated.
For those who are having trouble accessing the store, fear not, it just means that there are numerous poeple trying to claim their free stuff. Sony recommends that you "give it another try, or wait for a small period of time to avoid the rush."
Sony is also expected to fully restore its services this week.
Visit the official Sony PlayStation Blog for more details on what you can get.
