As sales of digital music players are accelerating more and more manufacturers tend to offer something for this market. Alienware, a maker of high-performance personal computers, has been selling players from companies like Archos or Creative Labs for some time now, but for this holiday season the company is going to offer its own MP3 player called CE-IV (Close Encounters-Fourth Kind).
Alienware’s new line of CE-IV digital audio players will initially include 512MB and 1GB versions. Each player will be equipped with radio, memory slot for additional flash, ID3-compatible LCD screen showing artist and track info, multi-preset equalizer that can enhance bass and other necessary capabilities. The main attitude of CE-IV music player is its body designed after aliens and spaceships.
Miami, Florida-based maker of computers for gamers and professionals will also offer its clients the so-called HUB docking sound system, which is compatible with the CE-IV player as well as some other audio players, according to the company. The HUB is equipped with two stereo speakers and subwoofer that provide 30W RMS output power in total. The HUB will be equipped with a headphone jack, auxiliary input A/V line output, remote control and will support 3-way power: AC/DC/batteries (AC adapter and desktop cradle included into the package).
“With the introduction of the new CE-IV digital audio players, Alienware continues its well-established tradition of delivering highly innovative, stylish products that rise above what else is out there,” said Frances T. Alvarez, director of licensing for Alienware.
Pricing of Alienware Close Encounters-Fourth Kind was not declared. The cost of the HUB docking station was also not stated publicly. The player is expected to be available in October.
