124,930 total apps in the Windows Store and the top Windows 8.1 apps as of November 3rd

It’s now time to take a look at the top, best, and most popular Windows 8.1 and Windows RT apps available in the Windows Store. We will go over some stats for the Windows Store, including the top five paid apps and top five free apps. This is yet another post in our feature called “Windows Store Sunday” where we highlight what’s going on with the Windows Store.

As of December 1st, there are 130,892 apps in the Windows Store, an increase of 1,959 apps in just one week. It’s been a while since we have seen so many apps added to the Windows Store in just one week – with nearly two thousand apps being added for a second week in a row. Facebook is still the top free app as of right now while Asphalt 8 Airborne is the top app in the paid category.

Earlier this week, Nextgen Reader for Windows 8.1 was updated to version 2.0.29.0 in an update which simply featured general improvements and bug fixes.

The official Facebook app for Windows 8.1 received a plethora of new features in an update that rolled out this week, including the ability to tag and improved Live tiles. App Radio and Flipboard also received minor updates this week, simply fixing bugs and improving performance.

Microsoft’s own OneNote app for Windows 8.1 received a big update earlier in the week, significantly improving how you capture, find and view the notes you care about most.
