Fortune has released its updated Fortune 500 list today and Microsoft has made the list at 35th place. Microsoft is ahead of Google in the list, while behind Apple.

Fortune ranks companies onto its list based on annual revenue. Wal-Mart is at the top of the list with annual revenue of 468.2 billion dollars while Apple comes in at 6th place with 156.5 billion in annual revenue. Microsoft snags the 35th spot with an annual revenue of 73.7 billion dollars. Google snagged the 55th spot with an annual revenue of 52.2 billion dollars.

“As PC sales decline, Microsoft must come to terms with the coming of a new world order, one in which Windows may not be dominant, or at least not as dominant as it has been,” Fortune states. Microsoft is expecting to turn the tides soon with smaller screened Windows 8 touch devices.

Early this year, Fortune magazine released its Top 100 list for 2013, which basically lists the 100 best companies to work for in 2013. Microsoft was ranked at 75th place while Google continued to be in first place. Apple, on the other hand, did not even make the list.
