Earlier this year, Microsoft added several new Windows Phone hardware partners to its OEMs list. The software giant even waived off the license fee for phones and tablets smaller than 9-inches, attracting many Android OEMs. It’s not just the only attraction, Microsoft even lifted some strict software restrictions, giving manufacturers the ability to use their existing Android smartphone designs with the new Windows Phone 8.1 — take a look at the HTC One M8 for Windows as an example. Blu is one of the latest manufacturers to jump on the Windows Phone bandwagon with their entry-level Blu Win JR. The handset has a 4-inch WVGA display, a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, with MicroSD expansion of up to 32GB. There’s a 5MP rear camera with LED flash for photos and videos, VGA front-facing camera and runs Windows Phone 8.1 as its operating system. It measures 124.5 x 63.5 x 10.2mm, weighs only 122g and comes with dual-SIM support. On the connectivity side, it supports 4G HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps 850/1900 bands.
Amazon is selling the unlocked variant of the handset for $89, which is a good price for an entry-level handset. Currently, the Blu Win JR is only available in the US, with no word if Blu plans to bring it to other markets or not. It appears to be a direct competitor of Lumia 530/630, boasting a similar set of specification with a slightly lower price tag.
