Following an announcement that hardware companies would start making their Windows 8 tablets smaller, information on an 8-inch Acer tablet leaked to the web today. Could this be the first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet we’ve been hoping for?

A new rumor has been circulating saying that Acer is “might be the first to take action” in the fact that they will be making smaller Windows 8 tablets. They would be “small enough to fit in one hand while carrying the full software support of a PC.”

The tablet shown is dubbed “Iconia W3” which is slated to be the first 8 inch tablet running Windows 8, or perhaps Windows 8.1 since it is on the way. It may not be the most powerful thing on the market, with a 1.8 GHz Atom Z2760 and 2 GB of RAM, but that’s not the point.

Tablets are made for portability and this tablet features portability and power on a small machine, which is impressive! It will also contain a front and back camera and a microSDHC slot. It may also include a dockable keyboard and cover, creating a kickstand!

According to the rumors, it’s slated to be released in September, with Windows 8.1 just around the corner! Do you see yourself using an 8-inch Windows 8 tablet for everyday use?
