Acer launches Aspire Switch 10, a 10.1-inch Windows 8.1 laptop that turns into a tablet

Acer has just announced a new Windows 8.1 Tablet/PC, called Aspire Switch 10. As always, the Taiwanese giant has given the device a self explanatory name. Aspire Switch 10 is a 10.1-inch Windows laptop which can be switched into a tablet.

The company describes Aspire Switch 10 as a “four-position 2-in-1 laptop.” The laptop can be turned into a tablet with the help of its magnetic snap hinge. It also has “tent” and “display” modes that supposedly make the device convenient for watching videos and doing other things. Aspire Switch 10 sports an aluminum chassis with dual front facing speakers. It also sports a magnetic keyboard dock.

Powered by the Intel Bay Trail processor, the laptop runs Windows 8.1. The company flaunts a “Bring Your Own Cloud” technology for the device. This feature will allow users to access locally or remotely stored files. Acer says that the laptop will run for 8 hours after charging it once. The 10.1-inch IPS display screen, however comes with a rather unimpressive 1366×768 resolution.

The laptop seems like a cross between Yoga and Thinkpad Helix lineup. While it looks small, the device also has microSD slot and USB and HDMI support. Aspire Switch 10 will arrive in North America in June this year, where it will be priced at $380.
