Acer refreshes the Aspire S7 and Aspire R 13 notebooks with Broadwell processor

Acer has announced that it is providing spec bump to two of its Windows notebooks: Aspire S7 and Aspire R 13. The company is swapping the existing fourth-generation Intel Core “Haswell” chipset with the fifth-generation “Broadwell” processors.

The new processor, besides being more performance efficient and offering better graphics support, also improves the battery life of the notebooks. The Acer Aspire S7, which is a thin ultrabook light laptop, thanks to the new processor, can now give up to 10 hours of battery life. Much like the Aspire S7, the convertible Aspire R 13 now also gives up to 10 hours of battery life.

For a refresh, the Aspire S7, which weighs just 2.9 pounds, sports a touchscreen display with 180 degree viewing angles and comes in 1920 x 1080 pixels and 2560 x 1440 pixels display options. Its screen is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Coupled with 8GB of RAM, the laptop gives you a choice of 128GB and 256GB of SSDs, and 802.11ac WiFi.

The Aspire R 13, on the other hand, is available in FHD and QWHD display options. The other highlight of the convertible computer, besides the new Broadwell processor, is its multi-mode for operation. The convertible Aspire R 13 can be used as a laptop, tablet, as well as used in stand and tent modes.

The Aspire R 13 also comes with an active digitizer for digital pen input and, both the laptops come with newest 802.11ac wireless specification, which as the company claims, improves the speeds and reliability of the internet connections.

Acer has said that both the new variants of the said laptops will be become available starting in January with prices and configurations varying by regions.
