There has been quite a few role shifts within Microsoft lately. In another move revealed today, Aaron Greenberg is now Xbox’s Global Marketing Leader. After three and half year of working as the Chief of Staff for Microsoft’s Devices Group, Greenberg will now spearhead Xbox games - both 1st and 3rd party, as well as Xbox Entertainment Studios.
The 16-year company veteran Greenberg has a large amount of experience and expertise in the field. Before serving as the Chief of Staff for Microsoft’s Devices Group, Greenberg was company’s director of product management for the Xbox 360. He has been the public voice of Xbox One for over a year. Yet it is a sizeable change.
Greenberg is a bold leader, he doesn't feel shy at saying what he believes. In an interview in 2009, he said Sony has a "complacent attitude" and is “out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today”.
With E3 just around the corner, and several significant changes made to Xbox - Kinect-less console, removal of Gold membership requirement for streaming apps - it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Greenberg recently suggested company's big focus on games for this upcoming season -- safe to assume he has already taken things in his hands.
