AT&T could begin rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 update 'as early as this week'

For our readers on the AT&T network, there is a good news. The network giant has apparently planned to rollout the Windows Phone 8.1 update to select devices “as early as this week!”. Addressing users’ questions, an AT&T Community Manager shared this information on the company’s help forum.

As you might have noticed, the official rollout of Windows Phone 8.1 update began a few days ago. Incidentally, Microsoft also pushed the Lumia Cyan update — which bundles both Windows Phone 8.1 update as well as several Lumia exclusive features — to Nokia handsets running Windows Phone 8 or higher.

AT&T has been rather frequent with software updates lately. The company has been pushing timely software updates. As WPCentral notes, last December AT&T had rolled out the Lumia Black update to the Nokia Lumia 1020 handset before any other network. In comparison, Verizon and T-Mobile took an extra month to push the update to select Lumia devices on their network.

However, AT&T hasn’t announced in which order it is planning to seed out the updates. The company sells the Lumia 520, Lumia 820, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 1020, and Lumia 1520, as well as Samsung ATIV S Neo and HTC 8X. Are you excited about it? Let us know in the comments.
