Batman Arkham Knight headed to Xbox One and Windows PC later this year

Barkham: Arkham Knight

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment announced that Batman Arkham Knight, created by Rocksteady Studios, is coming to Xbox One and Windows PC, as well as PlayStation 4, later this year. This is the finale of the Arkham series where the hero faces the ultimate threat and has to protect Gotham from evil villains.

“Batman: Arkham Knight is the pinnacle game of our hugely successful franchise, and we are giving players the most expansive, impressive title in the series. The Rocksteady Studios team is continuing to focus on the excellent gameplay for which they are known while delivering a thrilling new experience for gamers and Batman fans," said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.

Batman Arkham Knight will take place in Gotham, one year after the events that took place in the earlier game, Batkham Arkham City. Once again, the hero has to protect the city from evil villains, such as Penguin, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn. The game also features Rocksteady Studio's uniquely designed Batmobile. This is the first time in the series players will be able to drive the vehicle.

“The team at Rocksteady Studios is putting a tremendous amount of work into delivering the final chapter of our Batman: Arkham trilogy so that fans can feel what it’s like to be the Batman,” said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios. “We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City.”

To add a bit of a twist to this news - Arkham Knight isn't Batman, rather, a whole new character created by Rocksteady and DC. Who could it be?

The game will hit the retail shelves later this year, but those of you who will pre-order the game will get a chance to play as Harley Quinn in exclusive Challenge Maps. As far as the release date is concerned, GameStop lists it will hit the US on October 14th, 2014.
