BBC iPlayer now lets you stream live TV on your Windows 8 devicesWritten by Moin Anjum on May 28, 2014 - 08:41AM @MoinWinBeta
BBC iPlayer was introduced first on the 15th of May for Windows Phone 8 devices, by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The latest update the app received now gives users the ability to watch streamed live TV. Also, depending on how fast your internet connection is, you can easily switch to a better quality video stream. Developers over at BBC also improved the general app experience, gave it a new look, made it more stable and it is expected to work with a wider range of Windows Phones.
Another feature BBC added is that now you can also watch programs with subtitles. Although, you'll notice that as soon you update the app, the Radio content is no longer available. "This was a difficult decision, but it allows us to focus on offering the best TV viewing experience in iPlayer. I do appreciate that this leaves some without a way to enjoy radio content but we really believe that the experience of the new BBC iPlayer is a huge leap forward and worth taking now. The iPlayer Radio team are currently working on a similar app with an optimised listening experience so stay tuned for more news on this." said Navin Nair is Business Analyst, BBC iPlayer in BBC Future Media.
You can download the updated app via the Windows Phone Store.
