An update to the Beats Music app for Windows Phone has just hit my handset (I love me some new app updates!) and is rolling out for users as of today. Beats Music is a great alternative to Xbox Music and Spotify on the Windows Phone platform.
"Beats Music is a new kind of streaming service that combines the best music experts and technology to always deliver you the right music at the right time. All you have to do is hit play," the app description reads.
In the latest update, which bumps the version number to 1.9, the app is touted as being 200% faster. In fact, startup time is down by half while the app response time is twice as fast compared to before. The download size of the app has also been reduced from 8MB to 4MB. Various other bugs were also fixed in this update, along with the addition of recommendations on the app's live tile.
Beats Music, the streaming service set up by Dr Dre as part of his headphones brand, reportedly has 111,000 subscribers as of March. Spotify, on the other hand, has more than 24 million active users globally. Apple is rumored to be acquiring Beats Music for a whopping $3.2 million, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
