Bing celebrates World Photography Day, wants your picture on the Bing homepageBy Ron on Monday, Aug 19th, 2013 at 09:26AM
Microsoft has announced a new contest today asking those who visit Bing.com to be a part of Bing's Hometown Homepage Photo Contest by simply submitting their own photos to Microsoft. Microsoft is searching for photos that highlight and capture the beauty of your hometown.
"Happy World Photography Day! In celebration of the holiday, Bing is partnering with Discovery to kick off a contest for photographers of every level. At Bing, we love great photography that shows us the world from a new perspective and we work hard to inspire viewers daily with our homepage images. While we generally source these images from the world’s best professional photographers, we know that people everywhere take amazing pictures every day," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
Starting today and ending September 3rd, Microsoft wants users to submit pictures to the Bing Homepage App and the top ten finalists will be announced on September 10th. Microsoft will then allow fans to vote for their favorite picture on Facebook. The picture with the most votes wins and will be showcased on Bing's homepage by October 1st.
The winner of the contest will also earn a Nokia Lumia 1020, 500px membership, and a canvas of the winning photo. "But that’s not all! The same day, Bing and The Nature Conservancy will celebrate the winner’s creative contribution and hometown pride by hosting a day of service in their hometown," Microsoft added.
