Bing maintains second place with over 20% of U.S. desktop searches

There is so much search engine traffic that it would take a massive change to make statistically significant differences. That’s the case between May and June for the United States’ search engine rankings according to comScore (via searchengineland.com). Microsoft sites continue to hold a solid second place at 20.3% of all U.S. desktop searches. Microsoft sites rank behind Google sites at 64.0% (who lost 0.1% between May and June) and Yahoo at 12.7%.

There were 3.6 billion desktop searches conducted through Bing out of a total 17.5 billion in the United States between May 15 and June 15. The total number of searches on desktops in the United States dropped from 18.2 billion to 17.5 billion over the same time frame.

Microsoft has taken great steps to grow Bing’s search share in the United States including powering many popular sites and services. While their searches are still about one third of Google’s they are holding steady.
