Popular cloud storage service Box wants to catch up, if not surpass, Microsoft’s OneDrive in the cloud storage battle. The company has just announced its native integration with Office 365, and unlimited storage space. Box hopes to increase its existing 27 million user base.
Box has always reserved the unlimited storage cap to ‘Business customers,’ though, everyone will now be able to enjoy the native integration of Box’s service with Office 365/2013 and Outlook products. These services will now prompt you to save your files on Box.
As for unlimited storage, business users will have to shell out $15 every month to avail the service. The company used to offer 1TB for the same price earlier. “What this means for customers of Box is that they don’t have to worry about the cost of storage,” said Heidi Williams, senior director of platform engineering at Box. “It makes it easier to roll out, worldwide.”
Over the last few months, almost every storage company has upped its storage offerings and/or slashed prices. Except for DropBox, which seems to be focused on enhancing sync abilities.
So here’s a little comparison to save your time. OneDrive is offering 1TB of storage to all Office 365 subscribers, and 15GB for the rest. Whereas, Google Drive subscribers can store as much files as they desire for $10 a month. And now Box hopes to lure in some users with unlimited storage for $15 a month.
