Build 2016 is officially underway, and we’re live at the event. Microsoft is presenting the latest tools and technologies that can help today’s developers be their most creative and productive.
It has been revealed at the event that Skype, during the past year, has seen over 300 million users per month who have used up to 3 billion minutes of Skype calls per day. The big news though is in regards to the next generation of the popular Skype service.
On Windows phone, in the next generation of Skype, users can use Cortana directly from within the app to send video, voice messages, and emojis. Cortona will also highlight key points and bring up information cards, and send users private messages via Skype as well.
In addition to this, the digital assistant will prompt users to connect with a friend who might live in a destination they’re traveling to and businesses will be able to use this to create bots (artificial Skype users) that can interact with customers to promote a service or solve problems. Cortana will also be able to help users book hotels and add date to calendars. Here’s an example of how the Skype video bots could work.
