Build 2016: New bot framework makes teaching bots simple

Michael Cottuli

Lili Cheng, director of Microsoft research in Boston, came out on stage to show how Microsoft is helping people develop their bots to be more intelligent, and better understand the natural language of the people that they need to interact with. The new bot framework set up by Microsoft is completely revolutionizing the way that developers need to think about bots, adding in a semantic dictionary that automatically teaches bots what certain words mean. If that isn’t enough, though, developers now have a new way to teach bots new words. With the new framework, all you need to do is select an unrecognized word, match it up to the function that you want it to be associated with, and it is automatically added to the semantic dictionary so users can speak more naturally to your bot. More on this as it develops.
