Built-in Windows 8 apps set for major update very soon, including Mail and Xbox Music

Great news for those who are on Windows 8 or Windows RT and have been praying for an update to the core apps that come with the new operating system. According to a new report, Microsoft is nearly ready to roll out a major update for all the built-in Windows 8 apps.

At the time of this post, numerous updates for core Windows 8 apps are labled as "installation ready" in the Event Viewer. In other words, they are considered "pending" updates so who knows exactly when we will be able to get them installed.

The updates are for the core Windows 8 apps such as Mail, Calendar, People, Messaging, Bing Maps, Bing Sports, Bing Travel, Bing News, Bing Finance, Bing Weather, Bing, Reader, Camera, Photos, SkyDrive, Games, Video, and Xbox Music. No word yet on exactly when the update will roll out, but we will keep you posted.

Hopefully these updates will offer better functionality and features to these built-in Microsoft apps. Many users have been frustrated at how pathetic some of the apps are, including the Xbox Music app. Which apps are you hoping to see obtain better features?
