Xbox One S

On August 2, the first 2TB Xbox One S launch editions models will start shipping in select regions along the official roll-out of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. While we already got an early hands-on with a customized new Xbox One controller which we will give away to one of our readers through an upcoming contest, the new gaming console definitely looks more interesting.

Our colleagues at CNET shared a few shots comparing the new Xbox One S to its predecessor, and seeing both models side-by-side helps you realize how massive the first iteration was:

As a reminder, the Xbox One S will be 40% smaller and will have an integrated power supply, an IR Blaster as well as a UHD Blu-ray movie player. The console will also support 4K video streaming on Netflix and Amazon Video plus High Dynamic Range (HDR) in games an video. And if you already have a 4K TV set, don’t worry, the console will be able to upscale all games to 4K without losing performance. All consoles will also be bundled with  the new Xbox Wireless Controller, featuring textured grip and Bluetooth support to pair it with your Windows 10 PC or mobile devices.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the new console, you can still pre-order the $400 2TB launch edition on the Microsoft Store or Amazon and get it at your door on August 2nd. If you can wait a little bit, Microsoft will also start shipping the first Xbox One S bundles on August 23: for now, you can already pre-order the $349 1TB Xbox One S Madden NFL 17 bundle (available in US and Canada) or the $299 500GB Xbox One S Halo collection bundle. Additionally, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson is currently running a summer contest through September 5 and you can win an Xbox One S with an Xbox Elite controller if you’re lucky. Let us know if you can’t wait to get the new console by dropping us a comment below.
