Classic game 'Dragon's Lair' makes its debut on Windows 8.1, now touch friendly and with achievements! Written by Ron on January 24, 2014 - 06:31PM
You might be dating yourself a bit if you remember the game Dragon's Lair. This 1983 classic has been repackaged in several different ways for various platforms over the years and now it has made an appearance on Windows 8.1 and Windows RT.
"Dragon's Lair, one of the most beloved arcade games of all time can now be enjoyed from the comfort of your home. This fully arcade authentic version includes all of the original scenes you've come to enjoy, and even an all-new global high scores list so you can show how well you wield Dirk's sword. Other bonuses include a full watch feature to sit back and enjoy Don Bluth's stunning animation," the app description reads.
In Dragon's Lair, you play as the heroic Dirk the Daring, who is a valiant knight on a quest to rescue the princess (why do princesses always find themselves in need of rescuing all the time?) from an evil dragon. You must control the actions of Dirk while finding your way through the castle of a dark wizard who has placed monsters and obstacles in your way. You must reach the dragon's lair.
"Dragon’s Lair is a fully animated classic arcade game from legendary animator Don Bluth. You’ll make your way through the castle and caverns below and wield your sword against some strange creatures. Beware of your foes, as they are numerous!" the app description adds.
Dragon's Lair features Xbox Live functionality and achievements, along with a global leaderboard. The game also features touch support so you can utilize gestures as well as control the actions of the character. The game runs for $9.99, but there is a free trial available as well.
