ComScore has released their latest figures, which shows the performance of different mobile platforms, as well as the top apps and smartphone manufacturers in the US for the three months ending August 2014. The report does mention the top performers in the US, but compared to last month’s report, there isn’t anything exciting this time around. Here’s what they had to say:

“ComScore, Inc., leader in measuring the digital world, today released data from comScore MobiLens and Mobile Metrix, reporting key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry for August 2014. Apple ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer with 42 percent OEM market share, while Google Android led as the #1 smartphone platform with 52 percent platform market share. Facebook ranked as the top individual smartphone app.”

Starting off, Apple continues to lead as the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the US with a 42 percent market share. The list continues with Samsung, LG, Motorola and HTC as the top five smartphone OEMs in the US. Nokia is no where to be found in the list, or any other Windows Phone manufacturer. As for Apple and Samsung, they’ve seen a rise in their market share in the US, while Motorola’s share surged to 5.4 percent from 6.3 percent.

As far as the mobile platforms are concerned, Android continues to reign as the supreme operating system with a 52 percent market share in the US. Apple’s iOS resides on the second spot with a 42 percent share, while Windows Phone has a 3.5 percent. There are hardly any changes when compared with last month, but Windows Phone showed a slight increase, with the share rising from 3.4 to 3.5 percent. Blackberry and Symbian are also in the top five, but there’s no change in their market share compared to last month’s report.

Last but not the least, the report also mentions the most popular apps in the region. There should be no surprise at all here since the results are similar to last month. Facebook and YouTube are the top two contenders, with Google Play residing at the third spot.
