Destiny: Rise of Iron, Destiny, Rise of Iron

On September 20, 2016, Rise of Iron will come to Destiny on Xbox One. Rise of Iron will bring more content, including more weapons, more armor, and more, much like Destiny’s first three expansion packs; The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King.

Rise of Iron will bring new weapons, armor, gear, story missions, and an all-new raid to Destiny’s already vast amount of content after the most recent installment, The Taken King. Rise of Iron will also include a new social area, not unlike the Tower and the Reef, called the Plaguelands. The Plaguelands is a frozen tundra that is nonlinear and open to fully explore. The Plaguelands is infested with a technological virus known as SIVA.

Rise of Iron brings a new mutated, insect-like enemy faction called the Fallen. According to Bungie, Rise of Iron’s storyline will revolve around this enemy faction:

“The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.”

Rise of Iron will be the first expansion pack that will only be available on Xbox One and PS4. The Destiny team will now refer to the Xbox 360 and PS3 as “legacy consoles.” In addition, the Destiny development team revealed Rise of Iron’s first mission in the campaign will involve the reclamation of Felwinter’s Peak. As for Rise of Iron’s other content, there will be a black Gjallarhorn, a new Strike mission, and more Crucible maps.

Rise of Iron will be priced at $29.99, and you will need Destiny, plus the first three expansion packs, The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King, as well as a Xbox One (if you are coming from Xbox 360). Rise of Iron will also bring a higher level cap to go along with all your new weapons and armor.

The Destiny: Rise of Iron pre-order page is not yet live, but should be at some point soon.
