Digitial TV Tuner Coming to Xbox One

Digitial TV Tuner Coming to Xbox One

Add digital TV to the array of media content sources available on the Xbox OneMicrosoft listens to feedback from their fans in Europe and brings an adaptor to the Xbox One to enable native digital TV. Users will be able to view live TV like any other media app on their Xbox Ones.

The TV tuner will be coming to the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain in October. Capable of supporting free-to-air DVB-T, DVB-T2, and DVB-C this tuner provides an alternative to the HDMI pass-through currently existing on all Xbox Ones. Hopefully native access to digital content means better quality and less issues with 50Hz refresh rates standard in Europe.

The Xbox One will handle the content just like TV is today. Users will still be able to view in Snap Mode, pause live TV, view and favorite channels in OneGuide, and control playback with Kinect or a controller. SmartGlass users also will still be able to browse and pick TV content just like always via their devices.

Xbox One users can enjoy their digital TV easier on their Xbox One for only £24.99 in the UK and €29.99 in France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. This seems like a fair price considering this little adaptor replaces your cable box. Hopefully Microsoft will make native digital TV available in other markets soon as well.

How does this look to you? Let us know if you are looking to pick one up in October! Where should Microsoft expand their digital TV tuner next?
