Earlier today at Microsoft's E3 press conference, the next iteration of the popular Tomb Raider franchise was revealed, dubbed as Rise of the Tomb Raider, where Lara Croft continues her adventures around the world. The game will come to Xbox One in holiday season next year. A trailer of the game was shown at the press event, where Lara Croft is shown in a psychiatrist's office, trying to deal with her past deeds.
"In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider. Featuring epic, high-octane action moments, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take gamers to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth," the announcements reads. "In addition, after hearing the cry from fans loud and clear, the game will put the tombs back into Tomb Raider, all in the franchise’s gritty Survival-Action style."
The role of Lara Croft will be played by Camilla Luddington, while the story writer Rhianna Pratchett confirmed she'll be a part of the upcoming sequel as well.
There's no word if it will hit other consoles or PC. The previous version of the game made its way to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, so we're expecting to see the game land on other platforms as well.
