Software giant Microsoft introduced two new extensions to the Edge browser for Windows 10 over the past month. Now, the software giant is expanding the number of Edge extensions with the addition of Adguard AdBlocker, the latest extension for the browser available for download via the Windows Store.

As you may have probably guessed, the extension works to block ads whether they come in the form of banners, videos, or links. The extension also lets you avoid tracking attempts while surfing the Internet with Adguard’s spyware and tracking filter. In the process, loading a page will take a shorter period and your privacy will be protected.

Compared to other browsers, Edge more strictly discriminates the kind of extensions it allows in its ecosystem. From Adguard AdBlocker’s description on its Windows Store listing:

Adguard Ad Blocker effectively blocks all types of advertising on all web pages, even on Facebook, YouTube, and others!

What Adguard ad blocker does:

  1. Blocks all ads including:

  • Video ads (including YouTube video ads)
  • Rich media advertising like video ads, interstitial ads and floating ads
  • Unwanted pop-ups
  • Banners and text ads (including Facebook advertisements)

  2. Blocks many spyware, adware and dialer installers (optional)

  3. Protects your privacy by blocking common third-party tracking systems (optional)

Just enable “Spyware and tracking filter” in Adguard’s settings. It completely removes all forms of tracking from the internet. Adguard has one of the largest tracker filters containing more than 5,000 rules.
