An official Emby app has been approved and should be launching on the Xbox One console soon. The app is a media streaming tool that can convert a variety of different media formats and send them to other devices to play and can even be used to stream live TV, view personal media while away from home, sync media to devices for offline play, and for backing up content to the cloud.

An official Emby app, Emby Theater, is already available on Windows 10 PCs, phones, and the Surface Hub. This Windows 10 app has the following features:

  • Emby automatically converts your media on-the-fly to play on any device.
  • Emby organizes your media into an elegant display with artwork, rich metadata and related content.
  • Easily share your media with friends and family.
  • Rich parental control and management features allow you to easily control access for your entire family.
  • Stream your cloud-synced media (with installed cloud sync providers)
  • Watch Live TV and manage your DVR (with installed live tv provider)

No official release date for the Xbox One app has been revealed but we’ll make sure to post about it once it goes live. Do you enjoy using media streaming apps on your Xbox One? Share your favorites with the community in the comments below.
