Facebook teams up with Microsoft, recommends Security Essentials to users

Microsoft Security Essentials, which reached version 4.0 not too long ago, is a free security solution that Microsoft offers for those on Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. Now, Facebook has teamed up with Microsoft to advertise Microsoft Security Essentials to its users.

"We’re very excited to announce that Microsoft has teamed up with Facebook to offer Windows users free malware protection with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since May 1st, Facebook users have had the choice of downloading and installing Microsoft Security Essentials as their security solution," Microsoft states. Security Essentials 4.0 features a streamlined interface, a new service called Microsoft Active Protection Services, a new automatic remediation function, and overall better virus/malware detection. No word on what Facebook gets out of this deal.

Will Facebook's recommendation make you finally use Microsoft Security Essentials?
