Father of the Start Menu calls its use in Windows 10 'disappointing'

Love it or hate it, the Start Menu is arguably the most iconic feature of the Windows operating system. Ever since the introduction of Microsoft’s famous GUI, it has sat on the monitors of millions, providing quick and easy access to the hidden depths of PCs around the world.

This love is not universal however. With Windows 8, Microsoft attempted to shutter the feature indefinitely, seeing it as somewhat archaic. And now, following a recent interview, it has come to light that even its creator, Danny Oran, has some mixed feelings on the topic.

In an interview with Business Insider, Oran, who helped to develop Windows 95 between 1992 and 1994, regarding the Start Menu in Windows 10, stated,

“In some ways, it’s a little disappointing the same stuff is in there.”

Whether a dull anachronism or a timeless pillar of simple genius, the Start Menu is seemingly here to stay; but who knows what the future may bring?
