It’s that time of the month when Microsoft announces the upcoming Xbox Live Games with Gold offers. For February Microsoft has a few interesting titles on tap. Xbox’s Major Nelson gives us the scoop.

Things a little light for February, with only two titles each for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Here they are.

Xbox 360 (both available on the Xbox One via Backward Compatibility)

First up for the Xbox 360 is Sacred Citadel (usually $9.99):

The once peaceful land of Ancaria is in grave danger. The evil Ashen empire has enslaved its population and is using the orc-like Grimmoc to wipe out the Seraphim, who swore to protect it. To defeat the empire, you will have to prove yourself as a warrior by riding terrifying mounts, acquiring earth shattering skills and looting powerful weapons and valuable treasures. Grab your friends and join the resistance!

The second Xbox 360 title for February is Gears of War 2 ($19.99 retail):

The Games on Demand version supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese. Download the manual for this game by locating the game on http://marketplace.xbox.com and selecting “See Game Manual”. Winter approaches. War rages on. Entire cities are sinking, swallowed by a new threat from below. Soon humanity will have nothing left to defend. Only one option remains: an all-out attack on the Locust Horde. • HD Gaming’s New Standard Innovative controls and unmatched intensity made Gears of War® one of the best-selling Xbox 360® games ever. Breakthrough advances in Unreal® Engine 3 raise the bar again. • A Blockbuster Experience Use enemies as shields, fight chainsaw duels, and discover new monsters, weapons, and vehicles in an emotional campaign of loss and retribution. • Explosive Xbox LIVE® Play The most visceral online shooter gets even better with a new party system, more co-op modes, and TrueSkill(TM) matchmaking. Xbox One

The first Xbox One Games for Gold title is Hand of Fate (normally $19.99) as we previously reported:

Beyond the thirteen gates at the end of the world, the game of life and death is played. Draw your cards, play your hand, and discover your fate. Hand of Fate is a hybrid roguelike/action-RPG/deck builder, in which the player builds a set of cards into a deck, which is then used to deal out the dungeon floors through which they adventure. Upon entering combat, all of the cards the player has collected fly into their hands as fully modelled 3D assets, and combat begins.

Finally, we have Styx: Master of Shadows for the Xbox One (typically a whopping $29.99):

Styx: Master of Shadows is an infiltration game with RPG elements taking place in a dark fantasy universe. Guide the goblin assassin Styx through the vertical and multi-layered Tower of Akenash, home to the World Tree, source of the Amber – a powerful and magical golden sap – prowling through the shadows with aid of a host of special abilities refined throughout Styx’s 200 years of history.
