File Explorer for Windows Phone gains new UI and more options in version 2 Written by Mark Wilson on December 28, 2013 - 02:35AM
Something that many people have an issue with when moving from a PC to a mobile device is the lack of file management software. Windows Explorer is great for navigating through your files and folders in Windows 8.1, but for Windows Phone you'll need to turn to a third party tool. File Explorer is one such app; it's available free of charge and has just been updated to version 2.
As well as enabling you to browse through the files you have stored on your device, File Explorer 2 also includes a number of built in viewers so you can preview files without the need to launch a separate app.
There is a handy wifi file transfer option -- great for phones that do not have a SD card, as well as for those occasions when you don’t have a USB cable to hand -- and SkyDrive integration means that the app can be used to manage your local files as well as those that are cloud-based.
The changelog is not particularly extensive but the app is well worth checking out:
- New architecture and new UI
- Supports multiple files operations
- Configurable main page
