FitBit’s Windows 10 app receives graphical redesign and new features in latest update

Windows 10 FitBit App

The official Windows 10 FitBit app has updated with a host of design changes and several completely new features.

The past few updates have seen some visual improvements to the app’s graphics and layout and this one refines things even further by introducing new animated tiles which activate when goals are met, fresh animations throughout the app in other areas, and a new design for the exercise page which is now much more streamlined and uses exercise-specific icons for each activity instead of the generic walking man icon.

Water logging (to keep track of how much water a user drinks throughout the day) has been streamlined and is now much faster than before and stride length can now be edited from within the app.

On the more technical side of things, the FitBit app received several Continuum improvements and bug fixes and has also migrated from OAuth 1.0 to OAuth 2.0. OAuth is a method of providing secure access to services. OAuth 2.0 is the latest version of the protocol and is currently being used by tech companies such as Facebook and Google. Microsoft added OAuth 2.0 experimental support to their APIs in 2011 and the OAuth 2.0 Framework was published in 2012. It’s basically a simpler and more secure way to do what version 1.0 did.

FitBit is one of the more popular fitness tracking companies and has a variety of fitness tracking devices on the market. It has been a strong supporter of Microsoft devices and their users and frequently updates their apps on Windows phones and PCs to make sure they’re as supported as their iOS and Android counterparts.
