Flappy Bird is dead, here are some alternatives for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1

The world went nuts for a game called 'Flappy Bird' just last week. Now that the game has been pulled, developers have been flocking to the Windows Phone Store, Windows Store, Google Play, and iOS App Store with clones and alternatives to Flappy Bird. If you are one of the many people who are itching for some Flappy Bird action, lets go over some alternatives.

While Flappy Bird was criticized for copying aspects of Mario Bros, the app became an instant hit as players attempted to see how far they can go. It was even reported that Flappy Bird was earning the developer 50,000 a day in advertising revenue. The app was eventually pulled, but that didn't stop people from playing the game, nor did it stop the app developer from earning revenue via the advertisements.

“Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever," says Dong Nguyen, creator of Flappy Bird, in a recent interview. So there you have it. Flappy Bird is dead, it's not coming back - or is it?

Well, if you happen to have a clone of Flappy Bird installed on Windows Phone or Windows 8.1, or if you are looking for an alternative, here are some options to check out. We can't be responsible for the countless hours of time you will be wasting.

Windows Phone alternatives

Jolly Fish - This free app for Windows Phone 8 is simple, just like Flappy Bird. Simply tap and tap and tap, and see how far you can go. Instead of a bird, you are using a jellyfish.

Flappy Bat - This free app for Windows Phone 8 features a weird bat, narrow obstacles, jerky flying, and can be sometimes frustrating. "Annoying endless flyer game. If you don't like getting annoyed, you may want to stay away from this game," the app description reads. This is another good alternative to Flappy Bird.

Flappy Bird - This free app is a clone. It looks and feels just like the app that was pulled. So grab it if you want the original experience.

Windows 8.1 alternatives

Jolly Fish - This app for Windows 8.1 is just like its Windows Phone counterpart. It runs for $1.99.

Flap Flap - This free app for Windows 8.1 is similar to all the ones we mentioned above. Same functionality and style, just a different character and environment.

Flappy Doge - Flappy Bird has made its way onto the web, with a touch of doge. Instead of a pixelated bird, the app features a pixelated Shiba Inu dog, or "doge" for those who are familiar with the popular meme.
