Microsoft has appointed Jude Buckley as the new Corporate Vice President of its Consumer Channels Group, responsible for sales and marketing activities with OEMs, operators, and retail partners. Buckley was most recently the Chief Commercial Officer of Best Buy prior to his assignment at Microsoft.
Prior to working at Best Buy, Buckley was the managing director of The Carphone Warehouse in Sweden. Buckley left Best Buy in May of 2014 to “pursue other interests.” Buckley will replace Chris Capossela, who has been the interim head of the Consumer Channels Group at Microsoft.
This particular group was created in 2011, with Capossela at the helm in an interim capacity. Buckley’s primary responsibility will be to help Microsoft sharpen its sales and marketing activities with OEMs and retail partners. Buckley will report directly to Microsoft COO Kevin Turner.
“We have been investing in building a Mobile-first selling capability, by establishing the Consumer Channels Group to strengthen and align the device-selling motion and to expand our impact with OEM, Retail Channel Partners and our Operator Channel, and by extending it with our opening of Microsoft Stores. For commercial customers we have invested in specialist Mobile-first sales capabilities and we are building out our device selling channel,” Kevin Turner stated in an email to Microsoft employees.
