FreePrints for Windows Phone and Windows desktop will be discontinued on March 1st

Another day, another company has decided to “retire” their Windows Phone app. Photo Affections, a company that allows you to order photos right from your smartphone and have it shipped to you via an app called FreePrints, has announced that their Windows Phone (and Windows desktop software) will be discontinued on March 1st.

No specific reason was given as to why the apps were being discontinued. However, FreePrints customers are being urged to use the mobile apps on iOS and Android instead. You can read the original email from the company below.

“Dear FreePrints Customer,”

“We regret to inform you that FreePrints for Windows Phone and Windows desktop will be discontinued on March 1st. As of this date, you will no longer be able to order prints using the apps for either Windows Phone or Windows desktop.”

“You can still continue using FreePrints online at www.photoaffections.com/freeprints. Additionally, FreePrints mobile apps for iOS and Android will continue to be available.”

“To learn more about FreePrints online, FreePrints for iOS and FreePrints for Android, please visit www.freeprintsapp.com.”

When you head over to www.freeprintsnow.com, you no longer see a download link to the Windows version of the app. Instead, you can only download FreePrints for iOS, Android, and Amazon Appstore.

FreePrints is yet another app that is set to be discontinued, joining Chase and Bank of America, who recently unveiled their plans to “retire” their Windows Phone apps. For those who actually use the FreePrints service and own a Windows Phone device, this news is obviously irritating. Do you use the service? Have you found an alternative like Printicular or SnapCam?
