One of the biggest American anime licensing companies, Funimation plans to release a brand new streaming service in February. Along with the new streaming service, the company will also launch a new universal Windows 10 app for all anime fans using Microsoft’s platform.

The rebranded streaming service will be called FunimationNow, and it will bring a “bunch of cool new features,” the company says. But these new features will eventually come later this year, as the company is now mainly focused on an upcoming web experience, as well as improving its current apps and services.

The ‘refreshed’ apps will arrive in February, and the pack includes iOS, Android, Kindle, Apple TV, Fire TV, and abovementioned Windows 10 Universal app.

Funimation Rebrands its Services to Stay Competitive

Funimation is offering a streaming service for their licensed anime series for years now, and it already has its own Xbox One app released in 2015 (in addition to already released PS3 and PS4 apps),. The reason for rebranding is probably because the company wants to stay competitive, besides other streaming services, like Netflix, or its main anime streaming competitor, Crunchyroll, which is available in more regions than Funimation, and offers an extremely large library of various anime and manga serious, for a relatively affordable monthly pricing plan.

Funimation is probably the biggest anime licensing company in America, and it presented some anime classics to the US audience, like Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, One Piece, Tokyo Ghoul, Space Dandy and many more.

The company still didn’t reveal the subscription prices for its upcoming streaming service, only saying that FunimationNow will be available in the US, Canada and the UK.
