Game publisher Ubisoft planning to stop developing games for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Earlier this year, game developer Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Rogue, a game title designed for Xbox 360 and PS3. However, that could be Ubisoft’s one of the last games for the Xbox 360 console, as the company is planning to abandon the decade old gaming consoles.

Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot told GameInformer that the company is not interested in developing games for the Xbox 360 and PS3. “What we see is that this year is still fine for the PS3 and 360. But next year because they are selling very quickly, we’ll move to the new hardware. After 2015, it will be hard for us to create games for those systems.”

The company has recognized consumer’s fast adaption towards the new gaming console, as a result of which it may chop off the development lines of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For now, only Ubisoft has mentioned such possibility, however, in coming year, if not months, similar move by other companies is imminent.

What are your thought on this? How long do you think these companies should develop games for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3?
