Ghostbusters on Xbox One

There’s a new Xbox One video game based on the upcoming Ghostbusters theatrical reboot and it’s now available for pre-order and pre-download on the Xbox One ahead of its July 12th release date.

Here’s the official description: Have you and your friends been experiencing paranormal activity? Grab your Proton Pack and join the Ghostbusters as you explore Manhattan, blasting ghosts, and trapping those runaway ghouls.

  • Thrilling Multiplayer Experience: Play alongside your friends as the Ghostbusters in the 2-4 player local co-op campaign!

  • Ghostbusting fun for the whole family: Gamers of all ages and experience can dive right into the action.

The game is currently being sold in a special pre-order bundle that includes both the full game and a special bit of downloadable content (DLC) that gives gamers the option to enable classic character costumes based on those used in the original two Ghostbusters movies from the 80s.

Despite being somewhat based on the new movie and even providing players with a story campaign set after the events in the film, the game seems to feature entirely unique characters with a noticeable equal representation of male and female characters to play as (the new movie has an entirely female team of Ghostbusters).

Promotion of the new Ghostbusters movie is expected to heat up as the premiere of the movie nears. Several tie-in products for the film have already been announced for Lego Dimensions (a video game that’s also playable on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360) and the two original Ghostbuster films are currently available to watch in HD on Microsoft’s Movies & TV/Films & TV digital store service.
