Help Arnie escape the darkness in 'Wake up, Arnie!' for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT Written by Ron on December 11, 2013 - 05:46PM
Looking for a new game to try out on Windows 8.1? Check out 'Wake Up, Arnie' which is a nice 2D side-scroller game that features unique hand-drawn artwork and an immersive atmosphere, inspired by a fascination with B-movies, nightmares, and dreams.
"The player controls the main character, Arnie, in a series of platform and timing based puzzles. The objective is to find the portal within each level that allows Arnie to move on to the next challenge, while at the same time avoiding all enemies - the Darkness and its minions - and collecting all the lightbulbs he comes across. By collecting all the lightbulbs the player gets the chance to play two hidden levels, with a different gameplay, that will allow them to build a special ship to combat the Darkness in an exciting boss fight," the app description reads.
One thing you will notice in the game is that the character moves slow. At first, I thought this was a bad idea but it makes perfect sense when the app developer stated that the character is purposely designed to move slow. "The pacing of the levels is purposely slow and dreamy, to emphasize the gravity-less and ephemeral nature of Arnie's nightmares, while the creeping darkness and enemies give the game it's sense of urgency," the developer stated.
There are ten levels to play and advertisements are present in the game. Overall, a very fun game that takes a different spin on your traditional "go from point A to point B and collect some coins" game. Check it out and let us know what you think!
