ICQ app for Windows Phone 8 updated, launches faster and now comes with a Live tile

ICQ, for those who did not know, was the world's first Internet-wide instant messaging service that was under the roof of American Online (AOL). Eventually, the service fell under the ownership of the Mail.ru group back in 2010.

For those of you who still use this instant messaging service, the official Windows Phone 8 version of the app has received an update - bumping the version number to 1.8.7.595. In this update, ICQ now launches faster and now features a Live tile for message notifications.

Here are the key features of this app:

  • Chat for free with ICQ, Facebook, Odnoklassniki, Mail.Ru Agent and GTalk contacts
  • Free photo sharing
  • Free SMS
  • Push notifications
  • Themes
  • Smilies
  • Chat history
