Image of low-cost ASUS VivoTab Note 8 tablet leaks along with specs Written by Mark Wilson on December 18, 2013 - 11:26AM
German website Mobile Geek has stumbled across some images and specifications of the ASUS VivoTab Note 8. There is no word on when the tablet will actually be released but it has been grouped together with a number of other devices under the heading Holiday 2013. It seems unlikely that there will be any more releases this late in the year, but it could mean that we see something very early in 2014.
If the leak is to be believed, the VivoTab 8 will cost just $299 and the image shows that it appears to have been designed for portrait usage -- the ASUS logo is to be found along a short edge of the tablet. As the name suggests, this is an 8-inch tablet and the screen resolution is an acceptable, if not overly impressive 1280 x 800.
There is a front 1.2MP camera and a rear one that packs 5 megapixels. There are said to be 32 and 64GB models on the cards, each backed up with 2GB of RAM and 1.33GHz Atom processor. Battery capacity is 3950mAh, there's a stylus pictured and the tablet is powered by Windows 8.1.
There is an image floating around, although the resolution is far from impressive. It was found in a slideshow that formed part of a Microsoft webinar entitled "New devices for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, new use cases enabled by those devices, and showcase early adopter customers". It's on slide 9 if you want to see it in its original form.
