Is Microsoft working on an Amazon Alexa / Google Home competitor?

The term “home hub” has been floating around for a few months. It was spotted in some registry entries and thought to be connected to the soon to be revealed Surface All-in-One, but now it looks like it may also be referring to a Microsoft version of Amazon’s Alexa, at least judging from this LinkedIn profile spotted by @WalkingCat:

In a comment to @WalkingCat’s tweet, The Verge’s Tom Warren insists that this isn’t HomeHub, but still it’s interesting, especially due to the popularity of Alexa and the potential of Google’s Home device, that Microsoft would be interested in expanding Cortana into the kitchen as well.
