Microsoft has decided upon its new strategy for Lumia to put business, security, and efficiency on top, as well as creating golden standards for these integral things. It seems from these statements that Microsoft is looking to revolutionize and increase the security and effectiveness of their Lumia phone line, which already has a good reputation for affordability and business. In fact, even a Forrester study was conducted showing the beneficial effects of businesses using Lumia running the Windows Phone operating system.
The Forrester study basically pointed out that these businesses with Lumia devices running Windows Phone attained a three-year return on investment of 285% on things like productivity benefits and increased end-customer revenue alongside reduced costs with IT. The reason? Well, there are many reasons, but one of the easiest to know is simply all of the on-board features such as OneDrive, Outlook, Skype for Business and all of the Office applications. All of these things go together to create quite a unified integrated phone that works very well in general for business, as proved by the Forrester study.
But we can look a little deeper at the other underlying reasons―the seamless integration with other technologies, such as integration with Office 365 cloud, Exchange premise or any MDM technology is certainly a good one, which allows any company what has previously made investments on infrastructure to simply get a Lumia device and have it ready right from the get go.
Additionally, Lumia security is top grade, as Lumia devices have extensive data protection features pre-packaged and ready to go. These security features range from basic things like device locks and password policies, to technical details like Secure Boot and automatic device decryption. In addition, these things can be far more easily managed with the tools from vendors like Airwatch, Microsoft Intune, MobileIron, PointSharp, Symantec, and Zenprise.
Last but not least, you can definitely hope to see your favorite phones get your favorite operating system, as Terry Myerson (Microsoft Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group) himself spoke and said “Soon you will see new premium Lumias designed for Windows 10,”.
