Microsoft adds another Skype app to the Google Play Store

SkypeRoomRemoteMicrosoft’s infiltration of the Google Play Store continues. Recently, Microsoft added its Skype Room Remote for Android. Some of you may be scratching your heads wondering why you haven’t heard of the app and whether or not you should be outraged by this confusion. Take a breather, the Skype Room Remote is an app that allows users to control online meetings on a very specific device. The Skype Room Remote works on a Polycom RountTable 100 for Skype for Business meeting device, and users need to have their Office 365 credentials to use its full features. Also, there is an equivalent Windows Phone app that was recently published this month.
Based on the information from the Polycom RoundTable 100 site, this Skype app is a relatively new addition to Microsoft’s stable of apps as well as new to the Google Play Store. As the demand for Skype-enabled Android devices in the workplace probably outnumber those of Windows Phone offerings, it should come as no surprise that Microsoft would be quick to offer this in the Google Play Store.
For those interested here is a little more info on the Polycom RoundTable 100 Skype-enabled collaboration:

Designed exclusively for small to medium sized business, the Polycom RoundTable 100 is an easy to setup and use, affordable meeting device that brings Microsoft® Office 365’s Skype for Business to huddle rooms and small work spaces without the need for IT help.
The Polycom RoundTable 100 will be available for purchase in summer 2015.

Microsoft’s push to retain enterprise dominance as well as expand its cross-platform strategy appears to be in full gear.
For anyone on an Android device seeking this very specific app, please follow the link below. For jealous Windows Phone user who would like to be included (I kid), there is also a link to the Windows Phone Store version as well.
Thanks Lijins for the tip!

The app was not found in the store. 🙁
