Microsoft adds Windows 10 Education edition to Windows Insider program

In the past, teachers and students running Windows 10 Education Edition were excluded from the Windows Insider program. Windows 10 Education is a version of Microsoft’s newest OS that’s available exclusively through the company’s volume licensing program and is also available to students in schools that participate in Microsoft’s DreamSpark program.

Along with the new Windows 10 Insiders build 14267 announcement, Microsoft also provided the news about Windows 10 Education:

If you’re a student or teacher running the Windows 10 Education Edition – you can now go to Settings > Update & Security > Advanced options and opt-in your PC to receive Insider Preview builds. By joining the Windows Insider Program and running Windows 10 Education – you can help to shape the future of Windows for education customers. You can be a part of the ongoing process of improving the features and functionality of Windows that has helped us build the best Windows yet. Windows 10 Education is available through Microsoft Volume Licensing. Individual students in schools participating in the DreamSpark program or eligible for the Windows student use benefit may also be able to download Windows 10 Education as a benefit of their school’s partnership with Microsoft.

We’re always happy to see Microsoft expands its preview programs to more users. The more users, the more feedback and the better Windows 10 can become. Of course, schools will likely impose their own limits on who can test the new OS, but, at least, Microsoft has made the option available.
