Microsoft announces Windows 8.1 readiness content to help users get more from the OS

While there is a great deal of excitement surrounding the news that keeps leaking out about Windows 9, we mustn't forget that Windows 8.1 is the most recent version of Microsoft's operating system. But do you know just what the OS is capable of? Have you delved into every corner and discovered everything that Windows 8.1 can do for you? The chances are that there is still something you could learn.

Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has progressed through various incarnations of Windows, you’re sure to find something of interest in the Windows 8.1 end-user readiness content that has been unveiled. This is not all new content, but it's handy to have it all in one place.

In all, there are three documents to download and eight videos to watch. The Quick Guide for Business reveals everything business users need to know, from basic operations to customizing settings. If you prefer to read through printed documents rather than working through things on-screen, take a look at the raw files which you can use to produce your own brochures.

The Power User Guide for Business is something we looked at just the other day, and this goes into more detail than the previous documents -- great for users looking to take things to the next level.

When you've worked through all of this material, there are still eight introductory videos to view. The basics are covered -- such as using the Charms bar and getting to know the desktop -- but there are also more advanced tutorials that will guide you through the process of changing system settings, using Task Manager and getting to grips with File Explorer.

Take a look for yourself and see what you think.
