Microsoft approves first batch of ID@Xbox games developersWritten by Mark Wilson on December 04, 2013 - 11:00AM @MarkWilsonWords
One of the most exciting and innovative ideas associated with the Xbox One is the ID@Xbox program which makes it easier for independent game developers to turn their dream into reality. Today Microsoft revealed the name of 32 studios to have been accepted into the program who will be working on games in the coming months and years.
Director of ID@Xbox, Chris Charla, said "Today, we're excited to give a first glimpse at some of the developers who will be bringing great games to Xbox One via ID@Xbox. (And let me emphasize, this is just a sampling of the many developers who are part of the program.)"
There are some familiar names as well as plenty that you will never have heard of. The team behind Ryse: Son of Rome, Crytek are among those included in today's announcement as are some who you may remember from Xbox 360 development -- the likes of Zeboyd Games.
Charla uses the blog post to highlight the fact that ID@Xbox is enabling the smallest of development teams to get a foot on the ladder. Happion Labs and Definition 6 are two one-man operations that just may not have been able to get off the ground without a program such as this.
That list of developers in full:
Inis, Comcept, Vlambeer, Double Eleven, Slightly Mad Studios, Born Ready, Crytek, Happion Labs, Definition 6, Team 17, Panic Button, Double Fine, Drinkbox, Team Colorblind, Signal Studios, Zen Studios, Bongfish, Half-Brick, Ninja Bee, Zeboyd Games, Nicalis, The Men Who Wear Many Hats, Iron Galaxy, Jackbox Games, High Voltage Software, Capy, Behaviour, Hidden Path, Gaijin Games, The Odd Gentlemen, Way Forward and Other Ocean.
Are there any names you're particularly excited to see?
