Microsoft are to release a public preview of Windows 8.1 for anyone who has Windows 8 during BUILD 2013 in June. Head of Windows Engineering at Microsoft, Julie-Larson Green confirmed this today during the Wired Business Conference.

According to reports, the Windows team are close to completing a second internal milestone for Windows 8.1, which is also known as the Milestone Preview. It's said that around this milestone, Microsoft will release a preview of Windows 8.1 to the public, which will be delivered via the Windows Store

This is good news, as it means Microsoft are on schedule for releasing Windows 8.1 later this year. Recent rumours had claimed that Windows 8.1 would be delayed, which would have resulted the release date being pushed back to 2014, much like the Windows Phone 8.1 rumours.
