In a new blog post today, Microsoft revealed that Windows 8 would have Metro style apps for communication, sharing, scheduling, photos, and videos. Most of these apps appear in preview form in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and consist of Mail, Calendar, People, Photos, Messaging, and SkyDrive.
These apps are cloud-powered and when a user signs into their Microsoft Account, all emails, calendar entries, contacts, messages, and shared photo albums show up immediately. The family safety feature is no longer a seperate download as it is now an integrated part of Windows accounts. Windows 7 users will still have regular desktop apps such as Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Mail, Messenger, Family Safety, and SkyDrive for Windows.
