Microsoft has just taken to their education blog to announce that they will be working closely with edX to create new professional learning courses for school leaders.  Five of these online courses will become available starting in the fall of 2016 through the Spring of 2017. The courses will empower and help guide school principals and headmasters, superintendents and school leaders to do more and also support their leadership in education transformation.

The Redmond giant is also highlighting in the post that leadership is an output of a high performing team. Microsoft claims that educators fulfilling many roles within schools need the opportunity to learn and express leadership. So, Microsoft Education Transformation framework, technology planning resources, and education competencies for school staff are all methods in which Microsoft will help identify the practices on how to improve learning.

Additionally, Microsoft is noting that the partnership with edX expands on the existing collaboration between edX and Microsoft in online learning. While Microsoft already has more than 35 online courses, the new courses will be developed with edX university, and will be available for the new school year.   If you’re interested in these courses, be sure to sign up to receive the Microsoft in Education newsletter to know when these courses become available.
